Adventures of Amanda and Annie - Take 2!
Today’s adventure took Annie and I to Nakkertok South to explore how far we could go towards the north end of the park before our legs gave out :).
Nakkertok South is just off of highway 50 and its terrain consists of some rolling hills, beautiful narrow classic trails and some fun race like ski terrain for both classic and skate. The race teams and clubs have built a very fun and interactive trail system that allows you to explore with friends and also navigate to some of the quieter spots towards the south end.
When we arrived, there were lots of folks skiing in heart of the trails, but after 5 minutes we had the whole park to ourselves. Grooming was completed the evening or morning of, but by the time we got moving, it was like we were BC skiing in some thick and heavy ski trails.
The beauty of and majestic scenery makes it all worth it. You will go through a variety of landscapes and find yourself crossing some wide-open pond spaces. And there’s no reason to feel like you will get lost as there is plenty of signage and Webber Loppet signs to ensure you are on the right track. On our way back from the ski, we found ourselves having the home base to ourselves and about 6 cars left in the parking lot.
Pre-Covid times you could find yourself in the chalet after having hot chocolate and a meal in front of the fire, but for now it’s takeout from Meech n Munch on the way home.

Experience Required: The whole trail network has something for everyone. There are more challenging trails that require a bit more experience for the narrow and pitchier downhills, but it’s all very manageble.
Trail Information: Buy your passes online ahead of time. For Nakkertok Val-des-Monts, it is $10 for ski or $5 for snowshoe. People can put the cash in the box and sign the register at the entrance. The online passes are for the full network (North and South and the Weber loppet connector trail). Those are $15.
