Exiting the comfort zone

I'm not sure if I realize when I exiting my comfort zone.

I often look back at a situation and say to myself, damn it, that took guts. Whether it’s starting a new career, business, trying a new sport or standing my ground on what I want, i’m always reflecting in how I got myself through those tougher moments.

Corys Pass was no different.

Until this past week, I didn’t even know what a pass was on a trail. Essentially traverse and some a bit more riskier than others. This experience had me overcome self-doubt and fear from start to finish. The most beautiful views, flowers, rock formations and terrain made it an extremely rewarding hike. There is a bit of scrambling but not much, punchy climbs and lovely and exciting walking on the side of the mountain. Let’s not forget Mount Louis who overlooks you as you make your way around Edith and head back towards the tree line. Thanks to Augusto for the support and company on this amazing adventure!

Depart: Cory pass trailhead. Check map on Alltrails or my Gaia which is my own GPX from my hike.

Gear: trail shoes or hiking boots ( I used Saucony), hiking poles, hat, sunscreen, jacket and bug spray.

Route: Clockwise is recommended. You will hit two forks in the road after the initial turn left , when you do, stay left both times. Signage isn’t great on this trail. When you hit Edith mountain, take the last trail that goes up. It’s an easier climb to the peak.

Nutrition and hydration : Nuun endurance, ham and Swiss sandwich and a few energy bars.

Experience level: advanced. There is a lot of climbing and you want to be comfortable on varying terrain.
