Is it luck or concidence?

Today’s day was a bit tougher than normal. I found myself quite busy in the morning and my head was not exactly where I would have liked it. I woke up, started my morning routine with some hydration of lemon, maple syrup and a bit of salt (Dr. Stacy Simms recommendation) and kicked off with a series of meetings.

Quite frankly it went downhill from there.

After talking with a friend, I mustered up the energy and will to head out in our beautiful winter wonderland and enjoy all this fresh snow coming our way. I learned a little from my last BC ski to ensure that I take photos of the map so that I can zoom in clearly and see the details.

At some point on the ski I took a wrong turn thinking it was trail 34 and was indeed on some other area of the network heading towards Camp Fortune. Not that this is a big deal, but I start to get disoriented. Once I popped out, I saw a patroller and he indicated that I was on the 22.

I tend to think that these situations are not actually luck, but a little helper guiding me along the way.

He recommended the app Gaia GPS. He showed me quickly the level of details and I was sold! It’s much more detailed than Google maps and I can how this will become my go to App for the future when doing BC skiing.

Hydration: Nuun Sport

Food: None required as it was a shorter workout

GPS: Google Maps (for the last time)

Starting point: 7b —> This is a great evening route if you don’t have a lot of time.

Trails: 31, 1, 6, Unmarked Trail, 22, 6, 17, 30

Distance: 6.6km

Experience Required: Skyline #6 is a bit more technical but with the amount of snow today, I found it quite fun and safe. A few exposed rocks. Beyond that, you need to feel comfortable on some long skinny downhills.

Energy Output: Fast pace hiking with various small efforts of intense climbing. Steady pace and a very nice downhill coming out of Skyline.
