Does hard work create good luck?

Have you ever wondered if you are just lucky? I had a conversation with a friend recently and we were talking about how “lucky” are in some ways. Specifically, we were talking about our community and how we feel lucky that we are surrounded by inspirational and supportive people.

She highlighted that this is not just luck. In fact, it may have nothing to do with that at all. It had me thinking about how I have cultivated these relationships, invested time and nurtured them. This takes effort and investment on my part, and on the part of the others as well.

I do feel lucky in many ways. When I need someone to talk to, there is always someone to call. And then my friends know that they need something, I will be there for them. That hasn’t changed but my perception in how these relationships came to form, was the effort on both parties wanting to invest and foster the relationships.

Next time you think you are lucky, dig a little deeper and be sure to reward yourself in investing in areas of your life that are important to you. That is something to recognize and be proud of.
